This piece is focused to represent the personal, internal growth based off of the idea of family, and the interactions that shape us. Each shelf is dedicated to one of my family members, in order of age. Each shelf has three post-marked books referencing a time in my life that the book helped shape my perspective of my relationship with that person. The installed furniture is meant to show that the space is safe to rest in and reflect; a place of refuge to take in thoughts of the viewer's own family, and if they can relate to my experiences with my father, mother, younger sister and myself.
